Philhealth urges support for Run 2013

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Jan. 25 (PIA6) – Capiceños are urged to help the country in achieving the universal health care goals.

Information Officer Mary Jane Amigo of the Capiz PhilHealth Service Office disclosed that the public is encouraged to take part in this year’s anniversary of their agency which is geared towards the attainment of providing with quality health services to all Filipinos.

Universal Health Care, also referred to as Kalusugan Pangkalahatan, is the provision to every Filipino of the highest possible quality of health care that is accessible, efficient, equitably distributed, adequately funded, fairly financed, and appropriately used by an informed and empowered public.

President Benigno S. Aquino III administration puts it as the availability and accessibility of health services and necessities for all Filipinos.

It is a government mandate aiming to ensure that every Filipino shall receive affordable and quality health benefits by providing adequate resources – health human resources, health facilities, and health financing.

Amigo said that in line with the PhilHealth’s 18th anniversary in February, a run for a cause project will be held dubbed as PhilHealth Run 2013: The Nationwide Run for Mother and Child Protection.

She explained that the run, which is a nationwide simultaneous running event that will be held in 18 major cities in the country, is their agency’s strategy of mobilizing Filipinos in attaining the universal health care goals as well as bridging the provision of health insurance protection.

For Western Visayas, the said event, which will kick off at 4:30 a.m., will be held in Iloilo City on February 17, where thousand runners throughout the region are expected to join therein, she said.

Amigo appealed to Capiceños to support their upcoming event as she called on the local government units, government and private institutions, private individuals, as well as non-government agencies and civic organizations, to donate and extend financial support to the cause that will make a difference in the lives of cancer patients.

She explained that the proceeds of said event will benefit the cancer patients of the Philippine Children Medical Center and the Kaibigan ng mga Kabataang may Kanser.

Donations, she said, maybe coursed through their PhilHealth Capiz Health Insurance Office. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
