ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Jan. 13 (PIA6) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Capiz Provincial Office had at least four days of improved consumers access to basic commodities at low prices for Capiceños in 2012.
Based on records, there were two selling events dubbed “Diskwento sa Mayo para sa Obreros” and “Diskwento Caravan” which were conducted laat May 15 to 16 and November 15 t0 16, respectively.
The pro-poor initiative is also in support to Administrative Order No. 203 which mandates the provision of non-wage benefits to employees and their families as income extenders.
“The caravans focused on school supplies in time with the school opening and noche buena products for the holiday season,” said a DTI – Capiz briefer on the activity.
Other prime commodities like processed and marine products, canned milk, coffee, sugar and laundry as well as detergent soaps, among others were also made available during the caravans.
The alternative market for manufacturers, distributors and local producers was participated in Dely Breadshop, Asia Pacific Aqua Marine, Inc. (APAMI), CSU Processed Fruit Products, Mambusao Banana Planters Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Spanggo Café and Pasalubong Center, Akoni Homemade Food Products, Capiz Small Coconut Farmers Marketing Cooperative (CASCOFAMCO), Ecoprods Organic Beauty and Health Products and Progressive Women’s Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries.
Exhibitors also included Business People, Inc., New Iloilo Supreme Marketing, Inc., Team Sales and Promotions, Inc., JECO Distributors, Inc., Cal’s Poultry Supply Corporation, Anking Merchandise, KTKM Distributors, Inc. Marianing and Sons Development Corporation and Valiant Iloilo Enterprises.
About P305,000 sales were registered from the two activities.
The DTI’s nationwide project gives consumers to exercise the freedom to choose a wide variety of basic and prime commodities at discounted prices. (JCM/AAL/PIA 6 Capiz)
