ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Nov. 14 (PIA6) – A lecture on election – related laws was conducted by the regional legal service of Police Regional Office (PRO) – 6 in Capiz Nov. 13 at the Governor’s Hall of the Provincial Capitol here.
Roxas City Police Station (RCPS) Public Information Officer PO3 Ramil Arcangeles said that the half-day activity refreshes and gives advance information among the participants composed of all Chiefs of Police, police investigators and Special Action Force (SAF) members.
PRO – 6 regional legal service chief Supt. Ehdel Pereira initiated the activity through the help of RCPS chief Supt. Salvador Dagoon, Jr.
Among the speakers of the activity were Commission on Elections Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Wil Arceño, Pereira and his colleague Senior Insp. Dennis R. Gabihan of the PRO – 6 regional legal service.
Arceño discussed the duties and responsibilities of policemen before, during and after the May 2013 national and local elections while Pereira and Gabihan tackled election gun ban, checkpoints and related laws, rules and regulations.
Recently, PRO – 6 director Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr. said that the gun ban in view of the elections will start on Jan. 13 and will end on June 12 this year.
Bearing, carrying or transporting firearms or other deadly weapons, unless authorized in writing by COMELEC will be prohibited to ensure a peaceful and orderly elections next year.
Only uniformed members of the police, the military and other law enforcement agencies including the Presidential Security Group who are performing actual duties are authorized to bear their weapons during the gun ban period.
The PNP official also noted that a PRO – 6 directive to remind all police stations in the region will be issued in view of the gun bun period. (JCM/Alex A. Lumaque/PIA 6 Capiz)
