ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Nov. 19 (PIA6) – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas urges Capiceños to join in the art competition.
BSP Roxas City Branch Deputy Director Leonora Siñel-Templonuevo encourages Capiceño professional and non-professional artists to join their second Tanaw Art Competition.
She explained that the holding of said event, which is being done every two years, is the BSP’s contribution efforts to support and develop contemporary art and artists in the Philippines, particularly to raise the standards of excellence in art-making in the country.
Templonuevo said that the competition challenges artists to strive for a higher level of artistic excellence and is dedicated to the recognition, encouragement and support of contemporary art.
It likewise endeavors to enhance the BSP art collection by showcasing outstanding works of Philippine contemporary art.
On the other hand, Capiz BSP Information Officer Lowen Andrew June Ligad announced that the art competition is open to artists who are Filipino citizens and at least 18 years of age as of December 31,2011 and who have been declared prize winners in selected Philippine art competitions or those who have been invited by international expositions including biennales or triennales.
Professional and non-professional artists may likewise participate in said tilt, he said, adding that the artist may explore in any subject matter or theme.
He added that entries to said competition will be judged based on creativity, technique, design, originality and impact.
Ligad revealed that the deadline for submission of entries is on November 29,2012 while the announcement of winners will be on May next year.
He stressed that P500,000, P300,000 and P200,000 prizes for the first, second and third place winners, respectively are at stake. (PIA/JBGuillermo)
