ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Oct. 9 (PIA6) – The Roxas City Population Office (RCPO) is looking for unwed couples in the city’s 47 barangays to complete the 100 pairs of love team who will march down the isle and exchange “I dos” in a mass wedding on Dec. 3 at the Immaculate Conception cathedral here.
RCPO Officer-In-Charge Virginia Azarcon said that the mass wedding is in line with the government’s Responsible Parenting Movement (RPM).
It is also a pre-Sinadya sa Halaran (SSH) celebration activity.
“After the church wedding ceremony, the couples will have an opportunity to pose for picture-taking purposes at a gazebo and other wedding reception symbols at the City Hall lobby,” Azarcon noted.
Roxas City government officials led by mayor Angel Alan Celino will be the couples’ principal sponsors.
Azarcon added that Pre-Marriage Counseling (PMC) for the unwed couples has started while recruitment of additional pairs for the forthcoming activity is on-going at the barangay level.
RCPO has already coordinated with the barangay officials and Barangay Service Point Officers in the identification of unwed couples in their respective barangays.
In 2011, about 100 couples also benefited from the city government – sponsored mass wedding dubbed “Tambi-Palad” which was featured a senior citizen duo for the past 40 years exchanging marital vows at the full-packed cathedral. (JCM/AAL/PIA 6 Capiz)
