ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Oct. 23 (PIA6) – More bags of blood are expected to be added in the blood bank of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) – Capiz with the six mass blood donation activities this month.
Based on PRC – Capiz records, the various sponsors of the bloodletting activities are Saint Anthony College Hospital, barangays Bago Grande and Tanza Norte in Panay town as well as Pob. Sur in Ivisan and Jems Barber Shop.
“Another mass blood donation will be organized by the Youth for Christ on Oct. 27 at Capiz National High School here,” said Red Cross – Capiz Blood Service representative Ray Martinez.
The bloodletting activities are in time with the surge of dengue cases in the province, registering 602 suspected dengue patients with seven deaths from Jan. to Oct. 13 this year.
However, the figure also includes 100 suspected dengue cases with two deaths outside of Capiz during the period.
The series of mass blood donations this October is part of PRC’s advocacy to encourage various groups to organize voluntary blood donation activity to address the emerging need for blood.
The daily blood requirement per day in the province is 20 bags or 6,500 bags per year. (JCM/Alex A. Lumaque/PIA 6 Capiz)
