ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Sept. 4 (PIA6) -- The Roxas City Police Station (RCPS) is coordinating efforts with partner institutions for the launching of Kabataan Kontra Karahasan tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran (K5) in the 47 barangays of the city.

"We want to empower the youth towards a peaceful, safe and progressive community," said RCPS Public Information Officer PO3 Ramil Arcangeles.

He added that out-of-school youth, students and other youth-based volunteer organizations will also be tapped aside from the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in the various barangays.

"They are also positive on the idea," Arcangeles noted on a coordination activity with SK Roxas City Federation Pres. and Barangay Banica SK Chair Kriza Fernando and 30 other SK chairmen on the initiative.

Among the issues and concerns which the K5 members are deemed helpful are the campaign against criminality, drug abuses, human trafficking, child prostitution, immorality, poverty, insurgency, terrorism, and climate change.

An action plan focusing on public awareness activities, volunteerism and conduct of training and socio-civic actions will be formulated by each group in the barangays.

The plan will also develop realistic strategies and solutions to identified issues, concerns and problems in the community.

Meanwhile, RCPS will conduct a training for K5 leaders and their volunteers particularly on Drug Abuse Reduction Education (DARE), Juvenile Justice and Child Trafficking, Reporting Suspicious Persons and Activities, Threat Assessment, Responding to Critical Incidents - "The First Three Minutes," Improving Observation Skills, Crisis Response/First Aid, Livelihood and Entrepreneurship, and Leadership seminar.
