ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Dec. 19 (PIA6) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development is networking with other government agencies to provide sustainable programs for the beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer Pantawid Pamilya (4Ps).

Western Visayas Regional Director Minda Brigoli said that they are closely coordinating and networking with the Department of Agriculture for the training of 4Ps beneficiaries on different agriculture programs.

She added that they are also in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways for work opportunities of said beneficiaries in the construction and infrastructure projects.

Brigoli said that there is also a livelihood engagement of 4Ps beneficiaries for the programs and projects of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

“The 4Ps beneficiaries, who are considered poorest of the poor, are at the center of government programs in terms of sustainable livelihood projects because we wanted that apart from getting a grant for the education and good health of children, the families should have earnings and capital for a living to address their basic need which is geared towards self-sufficiency,” she said.

Brigoli said that at present, the 4Ps beneficiaries in Western Visayas are at the survival state because they have only started in the program.

However, within five years said beneficiaries are expected to have overcome the survival stage and will already be on the subsistence stage and there is a high social adequacy, she said, adding that the government is now focusing its efforts on economic sufficiency which is towards self-sufficiency.

She also assured the public that with the help of the different government agencies and the private sector, the program will be sustained.

On the other hand, Brigoli pointed out that more classrooms and day care centers are up for construction to cater to the needs of children’s basic education.

In addition, health facilities and equipments are also upgraded to provide greater health access to the community. (JSC/Jemin B. Guillermo-PIA6 Capiz)
