11,000 Capiz GSIS members may avail of calamity loan

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Dec. 11 (PIA6) – The more than 11,000 active members of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in Capiz may now avail of the emergency loan.

Capiz GSIS Branch Manager Glorietta Dublas disclosed that they have started accepting emergency loan from their members after Capiz and other areas in the Visayas and Mindanao which were adversely affected by typhoon “Pablo.”

Dublas said that the emergency loan of the GSIS is made available to government employees residing or working in the identified areas that were hit by said super typhoon.

She revealed that Capiz is among 34 provinces that is included to be granted P20,000 emergency loan payable in three years in equal installment, the initial payment of which will start three months after the loan drawdown.

The said emergency loan will also be made available for active GSIS members in Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Basilan, Biliran Sub-Province, Bohol, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Cebu, Compostela Valley, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Lanao Del Norte, Lanao Del Sur, Leyte, Maguindanao, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Negros Oriental, Saranggani, Siquijor, Southern Leyte, Sultan Kudarat, Surigao del Norte, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Zamboanga Del Sur, Surigao del Sur and Zamboanga Del Norte, she said.

Dublas likewise said that the said emergency loan could be availed from December 7, 2012 until January 5,2012 through the GWAPS kiosk using either the member’s eCard or UMID eCard.

She also announced that those with temporary eCards or those with unreadable finger prints may also apply over-the-counter at their GSIS office with the duly filled up Emergency Loan Application and photocopy of their temporary eCard.

She said that the deadline for submission of said over-the-counter application will be on January 3,2013.

On the other hand, Dublas stressed that members who have existing emergency loans may be allowed to renew their emergency loan after payment of 12 monthly repayments but not later than the anniversary date of the previous loan. (PIA/JBGuillermo)
