ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Oct. 8 (PIA6) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Capiz Provincial Office is firming up preparations for a showcase of mandatory products that have met existing safety and quality standards on October 9 to 11 at the Gaisano City Mall here in connection with the celebration of the Consumer welfare month.
These products include electrical and wiring devices, home appliances, automotive parts and construction materials.
“At least 10 t0 12 business establishments selling products that affect life, property and safety will join the expo,” said DTI – Capiz Business Regulation and Consumer Welfare Division (BRCWD) head Angelita Colmo.
She added that some local government officials will be invited to grace the opening ceremonies for the three-day exhibit.
The theme of this year's Consumer Welfare month is “Get Organized. Be Heard. Be Empowered.”
The month-long celebration aims to increase awareness among business and consumers about mandatory products that affect life, property and safety and for the retailers engaged in selling those products to transfer technical knowledge on mandatory product standards to consumers, business groups, academe and local government units.
The CWM celebration is embodied in Presidential Proclamation No. 1098 issued by President Fidel Ramos in 1997. (JCM/Alex A. Lumaque/PIA 6 Capiz)
