Capiz bags CSC Nat’l Pagasa Awards

ROXAS City – The Capiz Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Claire Delfin-Caberoy bagged for the first time the Civil Service Commission (CSC) National Pagasa Award group and individual category, respectively, in the 2012 CSC Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.

“This recognition is a result of the big help and support of Gov. Victor Tanco, provincial officials, health sector, local government units (and most specially all the Capiznon,” said PHO team leader and Provincial Health Officer II, Dr. Samuel Delfin.

Caberoy is one of the recipients of CSC Pagasa Award (Individual Category) through her initiative of using an Electronic Inventory System that provides a comprehensive medicines inventory that comes in and out of PHO warehouse, thereby making the provincial government of Capiz the first in Region 6 to adopt such system.

The “good practices” of the province presented to the CSC for validation were:
  • Drug Management Program – quality and affordable medicines
  • Health Facility Services Enhancement Program – increasing the health facilities in rural health units
  • Maternal and Child Care Program – Newborn Screening, Garantisadong Pambata, and
  • Surveillance Disease Monitoring via the Capiz Epidemiological Surveillance and Response Unit (CESRU).
The PHO team included Dr. Evelyn Bolido, medical specialist IV; Cecile Tuazon, nurse V; Charmaine Quimpo, nurse V; Ma. Divina Bigcas, nutrition officer III; Nenita Cesar, nutrition officer III; Leo Biclar, medical technologist II; Julie Anisco, statistician II and Joeffrey Espiritu, health education and promotion officer 1.

Both the PHO team and Caberoy will receive a gilded medallion, a plaque and P100,000 cash in the awarding ceremony on September 19 at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang.

The event highlights the Civil Service Commission’s 112th anniversary.

The CSC Pag-asa Award is conferred to any individual or group for outstanding contributions resulting from an idea or performance that directly benefitted more than one department of the government. (Regie Bueno, Capiz Provincial Press Bureau/PN)
