ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 31 (PIA6) – Four more towns in Capiz received their respective P1 million Performance Challenge Fund from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Capiz DILG Provincial Director Helen Mestidio personally turned over to the towns of Dumarao, Mambusao, Jamindan and Panay their respective P1-milliom check for winning the Seal of Good Housekeeping award of the agency, Provincial Operations Services Office head Llanie Destacamento disclosed.
The said towns, belonging to the first to third class municipalities, are qualifiers for the Round 2 of Seal of Good Housekeeping, Destacamento said, adding that the said towns were assessed in 2011.
She also said that the P3-million and P1 million reward of Roxas City and Pontevedra, respectively, for the same competition is on the process for release.
According to her, through winning the Seal, which was one of the prime programs of then DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo, the local government unit is entitled to access to the agency’s Performance Challenge Fund which will go to the projects of the concerned winning LGU that are included in their respective Annual Investment Program (AIP).
Destacamento explained that the award recognizes the LGU’s exemplary performance in governance, public accountability and transparency.
Among those that are given emphasis are on compliance on the full disclosure policy, planning, fiscal management, performance monitoring, she said.
The round 1 recipients of the Seal of Good Housekeeping include the towns of Cuartero, Dao, Sigma, Ivisan, Dumalag and President Roxas, she said, adding that Maayon, Pilar, Panitan and Maayon were also conferred the same seal for2011.
Destacamento revealed that all the towns and city in Capiz, including the provincial government here are already winners of the said competition of DILG. (Jemin B. Guillermo/JCM/JBG/PIA6-Capiz)
